Meet the juror for our Sight-by-Side competition: Award-winning photographer Meeri Koutaniemi

We are excited to announce our award-winning juror! Meeri Koutaniemi will select the final EU and Ugandan participant who will travel through this diverse country to report on inequalities.

Meeri Koutaniemi is an award-winning Finnish photographer and journalist. Koutaniemi's work extends to over 50 countries where she has photographed and documented people with compelling stories of struggle and resilience. Her work stems from the question and definition of identity. Koutaniemi has focused on the humanitarian side of conflicts, displacement, and human right violations. At the core of her work lies the universal ability for empowerment and resistance. At the moment Koutaniemi on working on her long term project about female genital mutilation and the activism to eradicate it around the world.
