Sudan is a country of transit, origin and destination, and host to large numbers of refugees and internally displaced persons. Our actions aim to address root causes of displacement in conflict-affected areas that are also migratory routes, such as Darfur, East Sudan or the Transitional Areas. We focus on the most vulnerable populations (including refugees, internally displaced populations and host communities) in peripheral and urban areas, promoting resilience and secure livelihoods through programmes on education, health, food security, nutrition, livestock, and protection. Also, through regional initiatives to manage migration more effectively, we support rights-based and protection-sensitive efforts to combat and prevent human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
