"Forests were being destroyed. People failed to respect water sources. These were major reasons for droughts and poverty. This greenery you see today did not exist before the watershed committee." witnesses Zebenay Shibeshi, one of the beneficiaries of the Resilience Building and Creation of Economic Opportunities in Ethiopia (RESET II) project.

This dedicated mother of three is a dedicated member of the watershed committee in her area. The European Union together with the Ethiopian government (PSNP) have worked to rehabilitate this watershed. 610 households have been benefited.

"Thanks to the project" continues Zebenay Shibeshi "we've able to bring about agricultural growth. There has been a massive change. Now farmers harvest three times a year."

The RESET II project provides local farmers with lands, equipment, seeds as well as technical support and as a result they have succeeded in transforming the land from arid to fertile. Women are playing an important role in making their communities more resilient.
