IOM

Ethiopian Beyono is 24 years old and wanted to go to South Africa to change his life and that of his family. Beyono's journey took him to Nairobi then to Mombasa, where he continued to Tanzania, mostly travelling by rubber boat and lorry, hidden under beer bottles. From the seventy people travelling with him, only thirty survived. After being arrested in Mozambique, EU-IOM Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration helped him with his voluntary return back home. Now, a returnee, he shares his journey.
