The project proposes to contribute to reducing irregular migration, by strengthening cooperation at all levels including coordination with neighbouring countries, enhancing border security and by building capacities. This proposal is part of a comprehensive support to the Government of Ghana’s migration policy that seeks “to promote a comprehensive and sustainable approach to migration management which will enhance the potential of migration for Ghana’s development”. The project will particularly support the 2018 – 2022 Ghana's Immigration Service Strategic Plan, which includes among others “contribute to national security by tackling immigration related crimes and detecting and preventing threats at the country’s borders”.
Main objectives
The overall objective of the action is to contribute to reducing irregular migration, by strengthening the capacities of national agencies, academic institutions and civil society organisations working in the area of migration, for improved service delivery and coordination at all levels including cooperation and coordination with neighbouring countries and by enhancing border management and security.
